Look at these wonderful plants, trained as spurred cordon. They were planted after the war and are at least 70 years old.

With the ‘alberate’ (ancient system of training whereby vines were interplanted between arboreal trees) being even older, where the field maple was the living stake that the vine used to climb. Among the trees it was common to find both fruit and olives trees.
