The late cold and a Spring which is struggling to take off describe this early 2021 vintage. Even where frost damage is not present, the budding is not very even/homogenous.
In these parts, Sangiovese is mostly found to be between the 4th and 6th distal leaf. Yet there are still plants which only have their 2nd or 3rd leaf visible.
We are waiting for the temperatures to reach an average in order for the plants to express themselves and develop as best they can.
